Philadelphia – Today Sherrie Cohen, an attorney and social activist running for a Democratic at-large City Council seat, announced that she had received the endorsement of the Philadelphia Council AFL-CIO and the Transport Workers Union Local 234.  These add to her recent endorsements by the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund, Philadelphia NOW, the Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local Union No. 1, and Philadelphia’s three Service Employees International Union (SEIU) affiliates, Local 32BJ, Local 668 and Healthcare PA.

Philadelphia – Today Sherrie Cohen, an attorney and social activist running for aDemocratic at-large City Council seat, announced that she had received the endorsementsof four union locals.

Cohen’s campaign was endorsed by Philadelphia’s three local affiliates of the ServiceEmployees International Union (Local 32BJ, Local 668 and Healthcare PA) and TheBricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Unions No. 1.

Philadelphia – Sherrie Cohen, an attorney and social activist running to be the first publicly open LGBT member of City Council, announced today that her campaign for an At-Large City Council seat had received the “top tier” endorsement from the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund, the national organization that endorses openly lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender candidates for political office.  This endorsement marks the first time the Victory Fund has endorsed a candidate for legislative office in Philadelphia.

Philadelphia – Sherrie Cohen, an attorney and social activist running for a Democratic at-large City Council seat, demonstrated the widespread support her campaign is receiving from Philadelphia’s residents by filing almost 5,000 signatures on her nominating petitions today. The total was close to 5 times the 1,000 required to run for the seat.

Philadelphia – Sherrie Cohen, an attorney and social activist running for a Democraticat-large City Council seat, said today that she had raised more than $40,000 for herelection campaign during the recent filing period, leading the pack of Democraticchallengers as well as some incumbents.
Cohen said she had raised the funds for her campaign from a wide range of sourcesreflecting donations of ten dollars to the legal maximum. A news report on Philly.comindicated that Cohen had raised the most money out of any Democratic challengerrunning for City Council during the filing period.
